Dear Kate, I'm preparing for my first mortgage. I don't know what to expect. Can you help me? Jonathon
Hi Jonathon, Here's the thing about getting a mortgage. It isn't something you do often. So feeling like a fish out of water is normal. But hey, I have good news! Here are 12 mortgage tips leading to a successful mortgage journey. Today I'll cover 5 and 6. Check back often for the next 6.
Tip 5 Don't Be Afraid To Squeak: Don't be afraid of becoming a squeaky wheel. You know, the one that gets the grease? While I'm not suggesting to become pesky, you should squeak to your advantage.
Not heard from your mortgage representative for a week? Squeak by initiating contact. Offer your assistance. "Can I provide additional paperwork?" Set yourself apart from the crowd. Squeak!
Tip 6 Dare To Smile: Your mortgage professional requests just one more piece of paperwork during the loan process. Hmmm, you wonder... and why now when I asked you if you needed it two weeks ago.
There could be many reasons you are being asked for another paystub or monthly bank statement right now. Regardless of the reason, don't drag your heels. In fact, present it with a smile! Your willingness will pay off big time.
