Translating the Secret Language of Real Estate and Mortgage Lending

Hi my name is Kate Ford. I'm a real estate and mortgage insider with a unique perspective.

After more than 20 years experience supporting homeownership, I am on a mission to decode the secrets I learned while helping people just like you. You see, I understand mortgage lenders have been speaking a language different from the ordinary person on the street. I also recognize the challenges associated with home buying and selling.

But how did I get here and what qualifies me to be an expert? My father, a mid-west farmer, brought our family to the west coast to enter banking. Working his way up the ladder, he eventually retired as a vice president.

I credit Dad for my interest in money since childhood. However after getting married, I was busy raising four daughters. Even so, I never lost my passion to help people solve their money problems.

At the age of 34, I got my real estate license and later entered the field of mortgage lending by way of a small brokerage. After a year of lending, I applied for a loan officer position at a major mortgage bank. That took guts.

Still having little experience in the mortgage business, I was asked the obvious question. "Kate, what makes you think you can be successful?" Never one to hold back I answered, "I have four teenage daughters so I think this job should be easy."

What followed? I became one of the most respected loan officers at the bank, eventually opening my own mortgage company. My passion to support homeownership is stronger than ever today.
